Races
| |
Dúnedain of the South: of the line of Anárion,
who live in the realm of Gondor, still undefeated though they have suffered many assaults organised by Sauron, as well
as a devastating plague.
| |
Dúnedain of the North: of the line of Isildur, who lived in the realm of Arnor
before it was destroyed by the Witch-King. They are better known now as Rangers and secretly protect the
people of Middle-Earth from evil.
| |
Ents: or Onodrim (to Elves), tree-herds, ancient beings who
look like giant Man-like figures with trees' features
"Ents are more like Elves: less interested in themselves than Men are, and better at getting inside
other things. And yet again Ents are more like Men, more changeable than Elves are, and quicker at taking the
colour of the outside, you might say. Or better than both: for they are steadier and keep their minds on things
longer."
| |
Éored: Men of Éomer's household
| |
Holbytlan: Rohirrim's name for
Hobbits
| |
Huorns: little is known about them, they are Ents
who have become almost like trees
| |
Rohirrim: Men of the Mark, people of Rohan, masters of
horses
"They are proud and wilful, but they are true-hearted and, generous in thought and deed; bold but not cruel;
wise but unlearned"
| |
Southrons: Men from kingdoms of the Harad in the far South
who have joined Sauron
