| Welcome to Flight to Fantasy, my shrine dedicated to
the oustanding artist Yoshitaka Amano! |
|
 |
| |
Yoshitaka Amano is a greatly admired Japanese illustrator.
He is mostly known worldwide for his brilliant inspirational contribution to the Final Fantasy series and
this shrine will concentrate on that part of his work, for it is little developed in his official site. Yet, the scope
of his art is much greater. He also works as a painter, designer, and illustrated many books and animation series. |
|
 |
| |
His main influences seem to be Gustave Klimt, as well as traditional Japanese
brush paintings. He privileges expressiveness to rigididity and realism, often bending the strict rules of
proportions, in order to emphasise the expressiveness, the dramatic
or poetic effect of the characters he paints. He often places a small creature (see background images) next to
the characters he draws, probably to hint at their personality. |
